Week 1: Mike Dunham

goalie...sieve...goalie...sieve

As an entirely appropriate transition to this year's Tires of the Week series, this reporter was able to conduct a brief interview with Mike Dunham, who allowed seven goals in his game against the STD—thus breaking the backs of the Monkeys and opening the floodgates for more STD scoring.

So how do you feel about being named Tire of the Week?

Great. I feel like I did all I could to help the team. I just wish the game had gone on a little longer. I mean, you could feel the momentum building. If I'd had five more minutes, I feel like I could have let another few goals in.

Ok...so you were pleased with your performance?

Sure. It takes a lot of effort to get out of the way of all those pucks. I mean, you have to undo all that "goalie" training, and just get out of the way—like Deon Sanders with a running back bearing down on him—like Pavel Bure in the defensive zone. You know what I mean. Traditionally, goalies try to move as little as possible and let pucks bounce off them. It takes a lot of effort to dive out of the way every time a shot is taken. One time, I slid all the way to the boards and hit my head. Kinda hurt. Anyway, I'm kind of worn out. But at least I took two points away from the Monkeys. It's always good to beat your former team.

Er, Mike...you know you were drafted by the Monkeys again this year?

hun?
