DOH History and Rules

The Dolts of Hockey name began with its acronym—in the form popularized by Homer Simpson, "D'oh!"—and worked outward to an appropriate league name which reflected the degree of hockey knowledge and seriousness of its original members. (We also honor Homer with the name of our greatest prize, Lord Homer's Cup.) To be sure, we do take our hockey seriously, but try to temper it with a sense of perspective; after all, we do this for its entertainment value, not because there's anything like money at stake (and who among us really has any pride left?).

The league began with the 1995-1996 season and 10 teams, and expanded in 1996-1997 to 12 teams in two divisions, the Itchy and the Scratchy (replacing two departed general managers and creating two new general manager slots)....
